If you answered, “no.”, “I don’t know?”, “I hope so” or anything other than “YES!”
We have good news!
The Bible tells us that we can know we have Eternal Life!
1 John 5:13 tells us:
”…that ye may know that ye have eternal life…”
If you take a few moments and read through the rest of this page, you can know the peace that only Jesus can give you by knowing you have eternal life.
Romans 3:23 tells us “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
I have sinned, you have sinned, everyone of us have sinned. Sin is when we break one of God’s commandments. If you have told one lie in your life, that is enough to have sinned.
The Bible tells us in Romans 6:23
”For the wages of sin is death”
Because we have all sinned we deserve death, the Bible in Revelation 21:8
”But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
As a sinner we all deserve to go to a place called hell. That is the bad news.
The Good News is that Romans 6:23 also says
”but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Because God loves you, He sent his Son Jesus to take our punishment. Jesus was born of a virgin and lived a perfect life.
The people rejected Jesus and crucified him on a cross, Jesus died and was buried.
Three days and three nights later He rose!
Jesus died for everyone, but not everyone will be going to Heaven. Once in the Bible someone asked the question,
What must I do to be saved?
Acts 16:30
”And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
Acts 16:31
”And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”
Notice they didn’t say, be baptized, or clean up your life, or turn from your sins, or go to church. (all of those are good things)
But they said Believe.
John 3:16 is probably the most famous bible verse, you may even be able to quote it:
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Again, it says the requirement for everlasting life is belief.
If you believe you are a sinner
If you believe you deserve hell
If you believe that Jesus lived a perfect life and took your punishment
If you believe that it is Jesus alone that saved you and not anything you can do
Romans 10:9
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Ask God to save you today.
Pray a prayer something like this:
Jesus, I know I’m a sinner, I deserve hell. Thank you for taking my punishment for me. I put my faith in you alone. Please Save me Jesus.
These are not magic words, but if you prayed and you meant it in your heart, you can know you are going to Heaven.
